Are You Ready to Rock?

At long last, it’s here. Rock Me is available today from Samhain Publishing!

This book was a blast to write, and trust me, not all of them are. It’s fun, it’s sexy, it can be funny, sweet, crude… I hope you’ll have as great a time reading it as I did writing it. Brian is probably one of my favorite heroes I’ve ever written, because, well…he’s my kinda guy. (Am I supposed to admit that? lol) Don’t get me wrong, I love all the guys in my pantheon of heroes, but he’s the only one so far I think I could really hang out with and totally be myself.

Look for shout outs to many bands, songs and movies that I love–and to one rock star in particular. ;) I’ve posted the soundtrack to this book before, but here it is again.

“Deep” by Nine Inch Nails — The video is playing when Candace goes to Brian for her first tattoo. The lyrics, along with the toxic dyes in the video… hotness. See below.
“My Curse” by Killswitch Engage — One particular line in this song inspired a whole scene.
“This Love” by Pantera — Dark, ominous, angry, kind of scary. If you’re a metal fan in Texas, you have to love Pantera. It’s required.
“Freak on a Leash” by Korn — Song is about how Jonathan Davis feels in the music industry, but it’s also how Brian feels when he’s dealing with family issues. There’s also a scene at a Korn concert. Since they’re my favorite band, and inspire me on a whole other level, I had to give them a huge shout-out.
“Dead Memories” by Slipknot — I meant to include this in a scene in which Brian is reminiscing about a past girlfriend (Candace’s cousin), because it sums up his feelings about it quite well. I never put it in, but it still makes the cut here.
“Two Weeks” by All That Remains — Mainly because I really, really like it. And because the story happens over a course of roughly two weeks, and it’s a rollercoaster. This is the song that’s actually playing in the reminiscing scene mentioned above.
“Bliss” by Syntax — Because Candace likes it. She thinks it’s sexy. ;)
“Cuts You Up” by Static-X — He’s pretty cut up and pissed off about it when this is playing…
“Oblivion” by Mastodon — Because sometimes I would hear a song and simply think, “He would love this.”
“Twilight Zone” by Golden Earring — Mainly for a fun, blowing-off steam scene I eventually deleted. It’s still a guilty pleasure!
“You’re Going Down” by Sick Puppies — Another I never mentioned in the book, but makes me think of a certain face-off that occurs…

And just for fun, the video for “Deep”, which is onscreen in Dermamania when Candace first goes in:

And for “Freak on a Leash”, probably my favorite video of all time, which is on when Brian is contemplating a weekend of debauchery:

Have fun, and happy reading!

‘Til next time,
Cherrie

Usually I am more of a “lurker” but I just wanted to write about how much I LOVED “Rock Me”! It was so good I didn’t want it to end. I think I might have a bit of a crush on Brian :).

Is there going to be a Ghost/Macy story or even a Michelle story in the future? I just love these characters and would hate to see them go.

Thank you, Stephanie! I’m so glad you liked it. And yeah, you aren’t the only one who has a little crush on Brian. ;)

Actually, one of the stories I’m kicking around at the moment involves Gabriella, the lone Ross sister. It’s only in the planning stages, though. No plans for anyone else *at the moment*, but anything’s possible! They were all so much fun to write, I’d definitely love to revisit them. Hearing how much you guys enjoyed them is a great motivator, too.

I appreciate you letting me know your thoughts! :)

If writing this book was half as much fun as it was reading it you must have had a blast! I loved every minute hanging out with Candace, Brian, and his friends. It was like I was tagging along on the road trip and rocking out at the Korn concert, which is probably why I am still raving out this book.

A Ross family trilogy would be awesome! Just threw Ghost out there because I had so much fun hanging out at the tattoo parlor :).

Holy frickin’ crap, this was an amazing book!

    Candace. Kick Ass.
    Brian. YUMMY! [shudder]

Definitely going into the re-read folder and would definitely love to see other spin off books in a series or trilogy.

This book alone is enough to make me purchase anything that you’ve ever written or will write.

    Seriously folks, THAT GOOD!

It’s 1:40 am and I think I’d actually re-read it again immediately if I didn’t have web work I was supposed to have completed hours ago.

Keep up the good work, girlie! ;-)

    Sure, sure, thank me now.

Where were you at 4:00 am when I finally went to bed? I just HAD to go back and re-read, Unleashed. The cover looked familiar and sure enough I had already purchased and read it some time ago. Another excellent read and so cool to catch a glimpse of the pre-Rock Me, Brian.

And now I must attempt to defog the old brain. Five hours of sleep is baaaaaaaaaaaaad when you homeschool a 13 year-old. He’s going to out-wit me today for sure. :)

PS I have a radio show in the works. You interested in doing an interview?

LOL! I wish I could say I was sorry for being the cause of your sleep deprivation, but I happen to think that’s pretty awesome. :P (Now you’ll probably curse my name all day.)

And whoa, my first interview offer! SWEET. Feel free to shoot me an email with details. cherrie@cherrielynn.com.

    Thanks!

I love both of your books (Unleashed and Rock Me). Read both twice. Please tell me there is a Macy/Ghost story in the making. I am so in love with Brian.

Thank you, Theresa! I just love hearing that you’re in love with Brian. It means I did my job!

I wasn’t considering a Macy/Ghost story until I got so many requests for one. So I’m kicking it around. :) I’ll keep you guys posted.

Hi, Cherrie! Just wanted to let you know that I’ve just reread “Rock Me” for about the third time! Loved it all over again! It’s a GREAT book! And like the others here, I would love to see a Ghost/Macy story! Looking forward to new releases!!

    Now…I think I’ll go reread “Unleashed”…

    ;)
